Surface Ozone and its Precursor Gases Concentrations during COVID-19 Lockdown and Pre-Lockdown Periods in Hyderabad City, India

Drastic measures such as lockdown imposed in the countries worldwide to control extent of COVID-19 have influenced environmental parameters substantially. The aim present study was investigate impact on air quality Hyderabad city by comparing pollutants concentration during and pre-lockdown periods. A comparative also made pollutant concentrations observed (1st February – 23rd March 2020) period (24th - 30th April those previous years (2018 2019). Pearson correlation coefficient employed correlate ozone (O3) with other pollutants. Carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOX) O3 were monitored along meteorological like temperature, relative humidity solar radiation. It that increased from 26 ppb (by volume) 56.4 period, respectively, due decrease CO NOX concentration. NO2, NO reduced 33.7%, 53.8% 27.25%, respectively. To identify statistical significance parameters, analysis variance (ANOVA) used. provides new insights ambient pollution terms aforesaid could pave way for regulatory authorities implement curb pollution. Highlights • improved reduction leading model used (NOX), parameters. carbon (CO) 33.7 % 27.25 %, COVID lockdown.
